  Today an innovative technology – “self-ligating” braces – makes orthodontic treatment less time consuming and more comfortable than before. The Damon bracket utilizes a unique sliding door that encases the archwire.

  Conventional braces introduce a “binding” force as the archwire is held by rubber or metal “ties”. By removing this “binding” or high level of friction, the Damon system requires a lower level of force to achieve tooth movement.
  

  High-technology archwires that are activated by the temperatures of the mouth deliver a consistent soft or gentle force to “coax” the teeth to their desired positions. This means less pressure on your teeth for more comfortable treatment.

  Another great advantage of the lighter forces that the Damon system uses to move the teeth is that your overall treatment time will most likely be shortened versus conventional braces. Light forces are “biologically compatible” meaning that they work with your body for gentler and quicker tooth movement.

  Since the Damon braces work more efficiently, they require fewer adjustments. Fewer office visits will probably be necessary to complete the treatment than with conventional braces.
